Helene Leveillee was born in Montreal in 1932. She distinguished herself, even as a child, by her talent for drawing, for which she was awarded many school prizes. She began her apprenticeship at the «Ecole des Beaux-Arts» where she perfected the techniques of charcoal, pastels, watercolours and oils with renowned teachers. Inspired by nature, the change of seasons and the beauty of rural scenery, she concentrated on plays of light and shadows as well as on the bodily expression of her characters. Watchful of everyday scenes, Helene Leveillee is able to capture the simple moments of life.
