Thérèse Fournier

Born in Jonquière (Quebec, Canada) in 1939, Therese Fournier made her first gallery foray in 1961 after having completed studies to learn painting and its offshoots. In the years that followed, she would work through oil, pastels, etchings and acrylics. After university training in Arts and Special Education, she left teaching Visual arts in 1978 to devote herself specifically to painting… her primary passion. In 1985, she perfected her watercolour training with Pierre Tougas. After noticing her work in 1988, the artist Jean-Paul Ladouceur opened the doors of his workshop to her. Therese Fournier was inducted as a member of the prestigious Canadian Watyercolour Society in 1990, of the Regroupement des artistes en Art visuel in 1996, cofounded the Artistes de la Maestria in 1997, the Institute of Figurative Arts in 2000, the Académie internationale de Greci Marino de Monaco and of the Aigle de Nice in 2001; she has been a member of the Société des Musées québécois since 1993 and is a lifelong member of the Canadian Museums Corporation since her honorary presidency in 1992.
