ARTIST

Patrice Beckerich was born in Paris, France, in 1946. As a child Beckerich displayed a remarkable ability and passion for drawing. He began an intensive painting career at the age of 35. He apprenticed to various masters, studying drawing, oil painting and art history. He attended the University of Quebec in Montreal, Bachelor of Fine Arts program, wher he also gained experience teaching. In his painting, he uses his extraordinary perception for the formal visual elements of line, form, color, texture and shape to express his love and reverence for the natural world. Beckerich's painting hovers on the very edge of realism or fully within the world of abstraction. Forest, flowers, still-lifes, figures, landscapes and abstract compositions are expressed by overlapping plaques of color and texture that combine to create a world of shimmering light and color.
