Buying1935-2007 Jean-Paul Lapointe was born on June 7th 1935 in Saint-Charles-de-Bourget once called Saint-Charles-Borrome. He died in January 2007. He has been dedicated to acrylic painting since 1973. He has been involved in more than 50 solo exhibitions in various cities in Quebec and Ontario, Canada. He has exposed notably in France, in the cities of Paris and Angouleme and in Switzerland at three different occasions in Bruxelles. In 1975, he received the 4th Prize during the «Festival International de Peinture» in Nice. In 1983, he has been proclaimed winner of the Collector’s Grand Prize at the «Festival International de la peinture in Sherbrooke», Quebec. In 2000, he has been awarded the 1st Prize at the Rencontre X in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, the largest paint and sculpture exhibition in Canada. He also won the 3rd Prize at the «Salon de la Figuration de l’IFA», at the Laurier museum in Victoriaville, Quebec in 2000. Some of Lapointe’ works has been reproduced on cover pages of over thirty different publications. He has been honorary president of most of the largest paint symposiums of the province of Quebec. In 1990, the editor Jacques de Roussan published a bilingual book on Jean-Paul Lapointe canvas entitled “ Work of light and dreams” which received the prize of the “Best Book of the Year” at the 1991 «Salon du livre».
